London Eats | London, England

London food is always an adventure :)

Day 1:
Dinner - AA Business Class
Read about the food in American Airline business class here.

Day 2:
Breakfast - AA Business Class

Lunch - Pret a Manger (Westminster)
I grabbed a tasty ham and cheese sandwich to go on my walk from the Tate Britain to my hotel room. I love that Pret has a large selection of options, is quick, cheap, and has locations everywhere in London.

Dinner - The Indian Diner (Westminster)
L and I ate at this restaurant when we visited London in 2014. Since it was literally across the street from my hotel this trip, I had to visit again. I ordered the chicken tikka masala, pillaw rice, and plain naan bread. The food is still amazing! Also, when you leave they give you a rose and a chocolate mint :)

Day 3:
Breakfast - Grange Rochester Hotel Pavilion Restaurant (Westminster)
The hotel breakfast room is pretty with a stained glass ceiling, white table cloths, and a single rose on each table. After you are seated by the hostess, she will bring you a pot of tea or coffee (the tea is great!) and toast. There are four mini jam jars on the table (so cute!). Otherwise, breakfast is buffet style. The food was good, but the options seemed odd to me. They had the fixin's for a traditional English breakfast (eggs, baked beans, mushrooms, etc.), cereal, croissants, fresh fruit, and a selection of deli meat and cheese.

Lunch - The Red Lion (Westminster)
I ordered the three mini pies and they were pretty good. The fillings were yummy (steak & london pride, mushroom trio, and chicken tikka masala) and there wasn't a soggy bottom in sight (thank you The Great British Baking Show). However, the amount of crust seemed overkill. These were my first meat pies so maybe that is typically how they are made?

Dinner - Jamie's Italian (Victoria)
I ordered the truffle ravioli (I added pancetta) and the ambassador for dessert. The food was overpriced and not memorable. The pasta sauce was runny and not creamy and they were stingy with the dessert's toffee sauce. However, the portions were large, the waitress was amazing, and if you order a Coke they give you an entire pint. I was disappointed because this restaurant was praised by several bloggers. However, I do not recommend it.

Day 4:
Breakfast - Grange Rochester Hotel Pavilion Restaurant (Westminster)

Lunch - Victoria and Albert Museum Cafe (South Kensington)
I'll admit I waited too long to start looking for food options and I chose poorly. There are several dining options at the V&A that look tasty! I chose the Cafe and by the time I got there I was in the "low blood sugar I just need to find something to eat" stage. It's cafeteria style with several different counters to choose from. I'm not even sure what I got, but I was not a fan. I ended up eating some peanut butter crackers I brought with me, lol. While the Cafe is beautiful, I recommend skipping it and trying one of their other food options.

Dinner - Honest Burger (Soho)
This was another restaurant that was recommended by several different bloggers, but turned out to be disappointing. I ordered the honest burger with no veggies. The burger wasn't memorable, the fries were alright (but not great), the wait staff ignored me, and it was pricey for what you got. However, they were quick and conveniently located around the corner from the Prince Edward Theatre, but I wouldn't visit again due to the mediocre food.

Day 5:
Breakfast - Grange Rochester Hotel Pavilion Restaurant (Westminster)

Lunch - AA Premium Economy

Dinner - Chick-fil-A at DFW Airport
After trying new foods all week, it was nice to have something familiar again. Chick-fil-A never disappoints, and they don't increase their prices because they are located in the airport.
